Russell Myers
Russel is a contemporary artist who creates styled original acrylic paintings on archived paper.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“I was an art major at University of PA, Millersville campus. I've always felt I was born with paint brush in my hand. My father once remarked to me ‘don't stop painting.’”
What inspires you?
“The study of nature. The sea, land and sky. Of course, the stars and mostly the importance of human behaviour.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“My message: Dreams and the real world combine in an inseparable motif of experiences.
My theme: Art is an expression of the Soul to be explored.”
How would you describe your work?
“Intuitive. I paint with a freedom of self discovery and self knowing.”
Which artists influence you most?
“Wassily Kandinsky and Auguste Rodin.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“Artist role: Be Honest and truthful to yourself, first.
Evolving: Leading by example in an environment of chaos.”
