Rosalind Stoddart
Nature-based textile artist and environmentalist Rosalind Stoddart set to exhibit in Venice during the Biennale 2026.
Homage, Rosalind Stoddart.
Opening: Monday, September 14, 2026 7:00 PM
Rosalind Stoddart creates work that sits at the intersection of nature, art and ecology, using weaving as a vehicle for her message about the urgency of the climate crisis and the importance of a sustainable way of life. Her intricate, tactile wall hangings are hand woven, felted and stitched from organic materials, while the softly striking colours are drawn from natural dyes. Her work and the traditional processes used to create it are deeply rooted in the natural world and the flora and fauna that surrounds her: based in rural Northamptonshire, UK, and working from a newly built, sustainably-created studio, she crafts each piece using fleece shorn from her four alpacas and flax that she has grown, and dyes them using flowers and plants that have been cultivated and foraged in her garden. Growing the materials from seed means that her pieces can be years in the making: her creative process is slow, gentle and meticulous without striving for perfection, an approach that requires a patience for moving in harmony with the rhythms of the seasons and their changing climate. The next major showcase of her work will be during this year’s Venice Biennale in SOCIAL JUSTICE, a group exhibition curated by Amy Jackson at Palazzo Pisani-Revedin, Venice, Italy, from 14 August - 14 September 2026.
