Interview

Valeriya Bazarova

Valeriya Bazarova is a contemporary mixed-media artist and designer based in Florida. With a university degree in Design, she brings a strong understanding of composition, color, and aesthetics to her artistic practice. Her work combines painting, epoxy resin, and mixed media, often incorporating flowers, pearls, crystals, and other dimensional elements. Her art explores femininity, confidence, beauty, freedom, and individuality, blending contemporary art with influences from fashion and interior design. Bazarova’s distinctive use of texture, depth, and glossy resin surfaces gives her work a sculptural quality and creates a constantly changing interaction with light. Her work has been exhibited at Red Dot Miami and Artexpo New York, and she is currently preparing to exhibit at Spectrum Miami 2026 during Miami Art Week. Through her evolving practice, Bazarova continues to explore the boundaries between fine art, design, and dimensional mixed media.

What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?

“I have a university degree in Design, which gave me a strong foundation in composition, color, and visual aesthetics. My background as a designer naturally led me to explore fine art and experiment with different materials and techniques. Over time, I developed a particular passion for epoxy resin, combining it with painting and mixed media to create dimensional, contemporary works. What began as a creative exploration gradually became my professional artistic practice, leading me to exhibit my work at major art events, including Red Dot Miami, Artexpo New York, and Spectrum Miami.”

What inspires you?

“I am inspired by beauty, femininity, fashion, and the details of everyday life that can be transformed into something extraordinary. I find inspiration in interiors, flowers, textures, colors, and the elegance of fashion and design. Women are also a strong source of inspiration in my work — their confidence, sensuality, independence, and individuality. I love combining these influences with unexpected materials such as epoxy resin, flowers, pearls, and mixed media to create contemporary pieces that feel bold, dimensional, and emotionally expressive.”

What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?

“My work explores femininity, confidence, freedom, beauty, and the pleasure of living. I often portray women as strong, independent, playful, and unapologetically themselves. Through fashion, color, flowers, luxury-inspired details, and unexpected materials, I create a world where femininity can be both elegant and bold. The underlying message in my work is about embracing individuality, enjoying life, and having the freedom to express yourself without limits. I also want my art to live beyond the canvas — to become part of an interior, transforming the space and creating an emotional connection with the viewer.”

How would you describe your work?

“I would describe my work as contemporary, bold, feminine, and highly dimensional. I combine painting with epoxy resin and mixed media, incorporating elements such as flowers, pearls, crystals, and other decorative materials. I love creating layers, texture, depth, and glossy surfaces that change with the light and invite the viewer to look closer. My background in design strongly influences my approach — I think not only about the artwork itself, but also about how it interacts with the surrounding space. My work balances elegance with playfulness and is designed to make a strong visual statement.”

Which artists influence you most?

“I have always been inspired by artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Édouard Manet. I admire Van Gogh’s emotional use of color and texture, and Manet’s elegance, composition, and distinctive way of portraying people and everyday life. At the same time, my influences go far beyond individual artists. I have traveled extensively, visited museums and galleries in many different countries, and experienced art from different periods and cultures firsthand. Seeing original works in person has had a strong influence on the way I understand color, composition, emotion, and artistic expression.”

What is your creative process like?

“My creative process usually begins with an image, an emotion, or a visual idea that I want to bring to life. I start by developing the composition and choosing the colors, but I also allow the work to evolve naturally as I create. I paint first and then gradually introduce different materials, textures, and epoxy resin to build depth and dimension. I often experiment during the process, so the final result is not always exactly what I imagined at the beginning — and that is one of the things I love most about creating art. Each piece becomes a combination of the original idea, intuition, experimentation, and the unique behavior of the materials.”

What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?

“I believe an artist’s role is to make people feel, see, and experience the world from a different perspective. Art can capture the spirit of a time, preserve emotions and ideas, and bring beauty into everyday life. Today, artists have more freedom than ever to experiment with new materials, technologies, and ways of communicating with an audience. I see the artist’s role evolving beyond traditional galleries and museums — art is becoming increasingly connected with design, fashion, interiors, digital culture, and everyday spaces. For me, the most important thing is to create work that makes people stop, feel something, and remember it.”

Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?

“I have had the opportunity to exhibit my work at several major international art events in the United States, including Red Dot Miami 2024 and Artexpo New York 2025. I also returned to Red Dot Miami in 2025. These exhibitions allowed me to present my work to international collectors, galleries, designers, and art professionals. I am currently preparing for my upcoming exhibition at Spectrum Miami 2026, where I will be presenting a new selection of my work during Miami Art Week. Each exhibition has been an important step in developing my artistic practice and expanding my presence within the contemporary art community.”
