Bonnie Carlson
Bonnie Carlson is a 72 year old mother of 5 and a step mother of one. She has 4 grandchildren. Bonnie is retired and now she has time to contribute to her art work.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“I have been painting most of my life. I’m 72, retired and started my business about 5 years ago.”
Do you plan your work in advance, or is it improvisation?
“If I get an order then right away, or otherwise whatever motivates me.”
Are there any art world trends you are following?
“Not really, I'm fascinated with all the creativity and professionalism from different artists.”
What process, materials and techniques do you use to create your artwork?
“I use watercolor and acrylic, depends on what I'm working on. I tried oils but found I'm allergic to the strong odors.”
What does your art mean to you?
“Its my life.”
What’s your favourite artwork and why?
“My birds, I used to raise them and they fascinate me.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“I had a gallery show about 3 years ago in Pine City Minnesota.”
