Faith Sycaoyao

Anthony Fawcett, Noted for Ties to The Beatles, Commends the Art Icon and World-Class Climate NGO Leader Faith Sycaoyao

Born in 2004, Faith’s astonishing journey takes us from her humble beginnings in the Philippines to her Middle Eastern upbringing and now her culminating rise as an internationally-published artist and youth changemaker with her growing presence in Europe and the United States. In 2023, she made history as the First and Sole Filipino Executive Member of Climate Cardinals, a Stanford-founded and largest youth-led climate organization in the world with a presence in 80+ countries and partnerships with the United Nations, Google, and Yale. She also secures this achievement in her Board of Directors position in a California-based nonprofit with nationwide reach. Whilst also the youngest and only Filipino artist in her featured publications in UAE, Ukraine, and Spain. Her work and biography have not only graced media platforms and been connected and discovered by creatives in California, Kyoto, Minnesota, Florence, Amsterdam, and NYC; But have also been honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award, which includes a Gold Medallion and a letter signed by President Biden, as well as inclusion in an art catalog distributed in London and an art book that will be sold at Spain's top 1 art fair, ARCOmadrid, and other European art events, including one in Lisbon, Portugal by Spring - Summer 2024.

Hence, her elegant art technique and determined social contribution garnered the attention of respected figures such as Anthony Fawcett, an Art Historian and Critic from the University of Oxford, known for his connections with The Beatles' John Lennon and Yoko Ono, top national galleries, and notable Americans and Britons you might know today such as Peter Shotton, Andy Warhol, and Charles Saatchi. In a recent statement published on a London-based platform, Anthony states: “Faith Sycaoyao is a young Filipino artist, now based in the United States, who has already achieved considerable success for her nineteen years. Her oeuvre combines a delicate but accomplished mix of painting, graphite, and digital mediums. Sycaoyao's portraits, are hyper-realist in their exquisite fine detail, especially in the rendering of the hair and clothes. She uses a compositional device whereby the sitters' eyes "gaze out of the picture" in a classical, almost Renaissance manner. Indeed, her many small studies of hands, arms, hair, and flowers recall the meticulous studies of Da Vinci. Faith Sycaoyao's work, and indeed, her story is one to empower and inspire others, and today she spends much of her time traveling to share her ideas with the underprivileged. I look forward to following the next stage of her extraordinary career.”

Aside from that, she states that her mission is to improve community livelihoods in impoverished areas and provide opportunities for youngsters to convey their unspoken needs based on her past lived experiences and observed circumstances. As a writer stated in an article about her in the United Arab Emirates' leading creative platform, "Her passion for creativity and her desire to help others make her a unique and inspiring artist to watch in the years to come." (Magzoid Magazine, 2023). A remarkable statement that Faith continues to fulfill with soul-giving benevolence in the world!
