The Artist Lucas Shakespere did not want to work in the Art bubble. Her work isn't shiny enough to win competitions. She has taken the graphic design out of Art in order to give the utterances of the man and woman in the street the quality of Art. This mean that every snapshot, every selfie, every holiday photograph will be Art and every man and woman is an Artist. After Lucas Shakespere Artists will have to do something else. Producing finished works of Art will not be enough. Lucas Shakespere believes in the value of the individual. Every face in the crowd has a complicated and passionate history full of joy and pain. We are not statistics. We are children of God.

Lucas Shakespere was born in Wakefield and grew up in Leeds. She was mute for ten years of her life before teaching herself how to speak again. After leaving university she dropped out to live as an Artist in Leeds for the next twenty years. She then gave up her flat and went travelling.
