Exploration of the Shadow Self: "Pantera di la Luce", A New Portrait Service by Lexi D'Ambrosio

Lexi D'Ambrosio.

Reclaim all of who you are. Utilize your untapped creativity as well as gain a fresh perspective of yourself: Pantera di la Luce is an experience. Over the course of 3 weeks, Lexi meets with you, the individual client, virtually, once a week for an hour. During these meetings, she guides you through process-oriented art exercises inspired by her background as an art therapist. These creative prompts are designed and intended to spur conversation as well as encourage meaningful exchange. As the weeks progress and a sense of safety and rapport is established, using the art as a visual resource, she asks gentle, non-threatening questions to learn more about you as a person- what inspires or excites you, what keeps you up at night, what makes you tick, etc. This is all in an effort to foster connection and collaboration through co-creation. Outside of these virtual sessions, she utilizes this invaluable information and her own artistry to create not only a portrait of you, but a painting of how you would like to be seen, allowing room for the fullness of who you are. At the end of the 3-week long "Pantera di La Luce" service, you walk away with not only the experience itself, but a physical portrait for you to cherish and embody. In Jungian psychology, the idea of individuation is the process of returning to a state of wholeness, accepting both our light and our shadow selves, so that we may experience our fullest potential and the most unique version of ourselves. Lexi believes that fostering a connection to these aspects of our personality is what is necessary to not only develop a greater capacity to hold space for others in their humanity, but for ourselves. Cultivating compassion for the self is essential for our personal and collective evolution. As an artist who naturally derives pleasure from pushing boundaries, she seeks to challenge the idea of what it means to "be a creative." She believes that we're all innately creative, as she sees creativity as a means of problem-solving and how it may be applied. Witnessing individuals access this inner knowing of who they are, truly, and the newfound certainty, clarity, and confidence it brings them is what she loves about sharing art and the creative process with others. Ultimately, it is her intention to empower people by celebrating their individual stories and perspectives. All portraits are created using premium oil paints and are sealed with a gloss varnish to ensure the integrity of the painting, protecting it from spills, dust, or fading for years to come. Each painting is signed on the back, by Lexi D'Ambrosio. Clients may also opt for a hand-made frame to complement their final portrait. Two standard sizing options are available with the potential for custom canvas sizing upon request.

About:

Lexi D'Ambrosio (b. 1991, United States) has a primary goal as an artist to connect with subjects in an unconventional way, helping models to be active participants in her own creative process by a more traditional means. She enjoys playing with the dualistic nature of things, bringing life, story, meaning, and even sazón to a 2D surface.
