Between Code and Reality
0100 0001 -#12, James Van IPO
Opening: Friday, June 05, 2026 6:30 PM
James Van IPO’s exhibition ‘Between Code and Reality’ presents a new body of work situated between digital image-making and physical mixed-media practice. Developed from digitally constructed compositions and transformed through acrylic, epoxy resin, surface intervention, and custom-built framing, the works explore the moment when a screen-based image becomes a tactile object with depth, reflection, and sculptural presence. Bringing together portrait works and abstract pieces, the exhibition focuses on translation: from code to matter, from digital surface to physical reality. Rather than functioning as conventional prints, the works are built as layered image objects in which material treatment, texture, framing, and visual distortion are integral to the final composition. The exhibition opens on 5 June 2026 at Engelharts Concept Store in Mondsee, Austria, and marks a focused presentation of James Van IPO’s current practice. The series examines how contemporary digital visual language can be extended beyond the screen and reconfigured into physical works that operate simultaneously as image, surface, and object.
