Yuri Skorupsky
Yuri received his MFA in 1991 from the L’viv Nat. Art Inst. He lives in Chicago since 1989. He is a member of OPA, Founder Dolya Intl. Art Assoc. Founder PACT Auction, Art mentor & Restorer Palette Knife Master, heavy impasto impressionist. Yuri is represented by many US & Intl. Art Galleries.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“Since the age of 4, I have been involved in artistic work with my mentor in Ukraine.”
What inspires you?
“Mother Nature.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“Landscapes and Flowers.”
How would you describe your work?
“Catching the moment in mother nature, plein air art palette knife.”
Which artists influence you most?
“Artists like Monet, van Gogh, Rubens.”
What is your creative process like?
“I’m inspired during listening to music.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“Expressing cultural values in a realistic world.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“I had a sole exhibition at the Ukrainian National Museum of Fine Art in L’viv, 2008 and many more.”
