Interview
Victor Franceschi
Victor Franceschi was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, until 25 years of age. He relocated 5 years ago and currently resides in Ireland. His life journey began early, at the age of 13 when he started working. Initially, it never crossed his mind that he would become an artist, as he was never particularly skilled at drawing. However, he always had a knack for mathematics, physics, and a deep passion for astronomy. At 19 years of age, everything changed when a friend introduced him to a tattoo machine and taught him how it worked. In that instant, he fell in love with the world of tattooing and decided to dedicate himself to honing his skills.
In the beginning, Victor experimented with various different tattoo styles, but his true passion emerged when I=he discovered sacred geometry. He became fascinated by this discipline and decided to incorporate it into his tattoos. Through his tattoos, he hopes to inspire people to explore the mysteries of sacred geometry and find beauty and meaning in shapes that are often considered simple.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“My first tattoo contact was in 2013. And I remember that it was love at first sight! The next day, I asked for my work bills, bought my beginner's kit and started studying.”
What inspires you?
“There is something beautiful about geometry. That is present in everything we see, touch, hear, feel and are.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“I work with sacred geometry. Each symbol carries various meanings, sometimes explained differently depending on the culture, but all with the same purpose.”
“There is something beautiful about geometry. That is present in everything we see, touch, hear, feel and are.”
How would you describe your work?
“I don't know if geometry is the appropriate name for my style. I've been organically adapting to my own style, and I continue to make constant adjustments. I like to let my moments flow through my work, so I don't confine myself to a pattern.”
Which artists influence you most?
“My work is the result of various references. I could make a list of hundreds of artists I follow and draw inspiration from. However, I must say that lately, I've been closely examining the work of an artist named "Lewis" (blacksymmetry).”
What is your creative process like?
“The creation begins from the moment I wake up when I think about the project I'll be working on that day. Its process occurs before I meet with the client; creation is my state of mind along with my client's state of mind, and all of this is present in the ornaments I create.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“The role of the artist in society involves creative expression, social reflection, and cultural preservation. In summary, artists enrich culture, stimulate debates, and inspire, playing a crucial role in society.”
