Pintor Nicolas

Nicolas was born in Spain. He lived in Murcia, where he spent his childhood and attended primary education in Fine Arts and Construction Technician. He is a simple man, warm, charismatic, talented, hardworking, and passionate about art.

Thus far in his professional art career, Nicolas has participated in individual and collective exhibitions, both nationally and internationally in Murcia, Granada, Madrid, Paris and Moscow. Nicolas has also participated in local and international painting competitions.

Nicolas has taught painting to children who aren’t able to access resources. He has been to Africa many times, not only as a traveler, but also as the leader of the expedition. During these expeditions, they crossed the desert, studied the tribes, painted landscapes, and also created irrigation systems and wells in Mali. His travels completely changed his vision of the world and perception of reality.

What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?

“I always liked painting and drawing, although my dream of practicing art had to wait almost 20 years to be achieved. I began my professional artistic career after a journey of several occupations. At one time, I owned a large construction company, with a high number of employees under my supervision. I had also spent some time as a restaurateur at the famous Puerta de Sol in Madrid. In my free time, I began to paint.”

“I create a special, unique, multi-dimensional world, where my paintings inspire the viewer to think, feel and reflect.”

What does your work aim to say? Does it comment on any current social or political issues?

“From the beginning of my career, I was always committed to solidarity projects: the environment and the situation of the most disadvantaged people. I am in love with nature, especially the sea and its inhabitants.”

Which current art world trends are you following?

“I’ve always enjoyed street art and graffiti, but my major appreciation belongs to Mother Nature. Nature has always been a popular theme in art as a form of escapism from the stress of modern city life.

Nowadays, crypto art has become a very popular and interesting trend. But I still prefer to create original touchable art, instead of virtual.”

Do you plan your work in advance, or is it improvisation?

“I always have to plan the main idea that I want to express. After planning, I attack the work using my imagination, combining colors and forms in uncontrolled, unexpected ways.”

What process, materials, techniques, etc., do you use to create your artwork?

“The mixed technique brings an extra dimension to my works because it’s full of elements, textures and details. The canvas is then painted with different media such as oil, pigments, acrylic, sea sand, glass, beads, yeso, amber stones and ceramics. This is done to capture movement of life. The whole painting is then covered with epoxy.”

What does your art mean to you?

“Art is a personal way to express my thoughts and emotions. I explore the physical and spiritual world, and our current historical situation. It’s like a mission for me.”

What’s your favorite artwork and why?

“‘Walk on the Beach’ by Sorolla. When I look at Sorolla's paintings, I just stop reflecting and rationalizing, and let go of my feelings and fantasies.”

Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?

“I’ve exhibited my work as follows:

2021 - winning at exhibition at Mellow Art Award online show.

- County Council Art Museum. House of Tejerinas in Estepona

2020 - Museo Pikassa, Marbella, Malaga.

I’m currently preparing for the great Biennale Arte di Venezia 2022 with ARTBOX in Venice.”
