What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“I started my journey through a deep-rooted love for art that began in high school in London, Ontario. I also had strong support and influence from my family, who helped guide me along the way.”
What does your work aim to say? Does it comment on any current social or political issues?
“My aim is not political, but I believe art-like music-should be shared and enjoyed. My work is centered around emotion, connection, and experience rather than commentary.”
Do you plan your work in advance, or is it improvisation?
“I do not follow any specific trends, but I feel fortunate to live in a time when anything can be appreciated and instantly viewed by a wide audience.”
“My process is more organic, often leaning toward improvisation.”
Are there any art world trends you are following?
“My process is more organic, often leaning toward improvisation. I allow inspiration and mood to guide me as I create.”
What process, materials and techniques do you use to create your artwork?
“My process is influenced by mood and external influences-my garden is a great example. My technique also shifts depending on the substrate I’m working with, which can include metal, wood, canvas, or paper.”
What does your art mean to you?
“Art is my identity. When I introduce myself to someone, it is with pride that I say I am a creative person with layers of emotions.”
What’s your favourite artwork and why?
“I see everything as artwork. As far as a favourite, it’s usually the piece I’m currently working on - that’s the one that gets my total commitment at the time.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“One of the most meaningful was my 2023 Vancouver exhibit. It was an incredible experience to see so many different ideas and to share stories and energy with like-minded people. Notably, my Calgary studio is having an opening event on May 4th. All is welcome!”
