What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“Since I was a child, even when I could not write or read, I already drew skillfully and that fact surprised everyone. I was so fascinated by art, therefore it was clear to me that I came to study Fine Arts at the University of Seville (Spain) and also at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (Milan, Italy). I am a professional artist and also a photographer and an Interior Designer.”
What inspires you?
“Life inspires me. Thoughts and feelings in each period of my life, but also what is happening in all around the world because we, artists, are very sensitive people. My last exhibition aim was to make people aware of the importance of physical communication between us. I worked with textures and its name was "Piel" (skin).”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“I always create based on my own feelings as a human being: my growing as a person, friendship, family, personal relations, creation and nature. My own technique’s aim is that beauty can be reached from what is considered an error.”
How would you describe your work?
“People and art gallerists think that my art is easily recognizable. I do not try to do it, I just create. My art is in a dimension between figurative art and abstract and expressionism painting. Forms from reality can be identified but the global view is a colors and abstract appearance.”
Which artists influence you most?
“I am an art lover, therefore I could not say one artist is my favorite. I do not copy any of them because I want to talk from myself. I always consider classic art, Renaissance and Barroque Era astonishing. I adore Claroscuro from Caravaggio or José de Ribera, but there is nothing in common with my own style. I do love colors and forms from expressionism.”
“My art is in a dimension between figurative art and abstract and expressionism painting.”
What is your creative process like?
“Feeling is the beginning of my creative process. Feeling life that is around me, the air, the light, the love and the hate. Everything is inspiring. Art for me is similar to meditating.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“An artist’s role in society must be being themselves. Life now tells us to show some parts of ourselves but not our real personality. We must be perfect, smiled, successful, healthy people. Art must show who we really are. That is what I do and that is what I believe in.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“I have been in the artworld all of my life and have organized a large number of exhibitions individuals and international level, more than 40 events, in the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, places where I have lived. It is almost impossible to keep track of the number of works made and more, when inspiration leads you to create and create wherever you are. Even so, I could say that I have clearly surpassed five hundred works at a professional level. Each one of them is a little piece of me.
My last exhibition was "Piel" in my hometown, Osuna (Spain) in 2023. I have exhibited in Spain in "Artsenal", Málaga (Spain) in 2019 which is one of the most popular centers of Contemporany Art in Spain. I made an exhibition at Seville, capital of Andalusia, called "Night Walks" in 2017. I had international exhibitions in "Het Vliegerhuys", Zwolle, (Netherlands) in 2011 or "Aquarelli" in Salò, Lombardy (Italy) among others. In addition, I have obtained prestigious awards within the world of art and culture; Just as I have collaborated in publications, editions of books and magazines and other artistic actions. "February 28 Award," Art and Culture category and "Unstoppable Woman award," both from the Osuna City Council (Seville). I performed the Official Portrait for the Archbishopric Diocese of Jerez de la Frontera Bishop. Realistic portraits are one of my skills as well.”
