Interview

Marc Noël

Marc is a man beyond all norms. Marc Noël's mission has always been to share something completely different in this world, from different viewpoints and in different forms, but complementary to what the ego's perception of reality is. In all his forms, and here in this biography more specifically as an artist painter, Marc Noël has the desire and the need to share with the world through his artistic creations something that is completely "out of the norm," but where nevertheless the person who permits himself, and who dares to enter into the artistic creations presented by Marc Noël, will have the opportunity to discover another dimension.

When he was young, he had a major car accident which shifted his life overnight into a completely different dimension from what he had planned to live during this incarnation. Through a long path of rehabilitation, specifically at the level of anything related to fine motor skills, the universe put him in contact with an exceptional therapist who dared to take on the challenge of guiding Marc Noël in this hand rehabilitation. Through his motivation, his determination, his need to evolve, and his way of self-teaching, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, Marc Noël went through drawing, pastels, Japanese calligraphy, and painting to finally completely recover the control over his hands! But as in everything he does in life, he always has the need to look further “outside the box,” and there, he discovered that all this artistic creation was still limited by a certain “technique, and reason, and logic.” He felt at a certain moment that everything was so small and limited in his artistic expression. Through a whole evolution that followed both on a personal and professional level, a mystical opportunity also came his way. He began to make his first paintings, which were no longer only guided by a mastery of the hand with a brush on a canvas, but also through guidance from another dimension which passed through the hand, through the brush on the canvas.

The paintings he creates today are not just paintings but are very powerful evolving tools which, through time and the observer who stands in front of them, will create an opportunity for an “out of the norm” encounter between the quantum painting and the observer. These are now quantum paintings that change every day for the observer, even though the painting is not modified physically, because the quantum painting adapts itself in what it shows according to the evolution of the observer. All the people who already have had the chance to acquire one of his quantum paintings have all experienced an evolution, from when they first saw their canvas, and day after day, as well as a change in their quantum painting and in the feeling that they had with their quantum painting. Today Marc Noël also presents his paintings to the whole world on other media platforms, such as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), videos, etc., so that everyone who wants it, can benefit from these very powerful tools.

He also teaches quantum painting to people, whether they have had or have not had academic training in painting, to make them live and experience “the painting” from a completely different point of view, or to dare enter into the feeling of the creation of the painting, and even become their painting. His objective as an artist painter here is not to go against the classical art of painting, which is often limited by a great rigidity and rigor of technique, norms, and social critics, whereby a painting must adhere to a whole list of criteria to be recognized by “the standard.” What he brings through his quantum painting is complementary to this classical artistic world, which means, giving art through painting an additional dimension, or even providing the painter who was exclusively trained in academic art, with an additional tool, which will not only make his creation as a painter even greater and more beautiful, but also give him the opportunity to develop “this freedom of artistic creation!”

What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?

“Basically, I am a man of science, but when I was 26, I had a severe car accident and during 7 years of revalidation process, I had a chance to work with an extremely gifted therapist who helped me find back all my motoric skills especially in both hands. He has learned me especially in the beginning of this revalidation to draw or at least attempt to draw a circle, which was completely impossible. Through a long process of revalidation and motoric skills, he teaches me how to draw all kinds of drawings and I took so much pleasure in doing this that from there I went to create some drawings with pastels. From that moment, I had the deep need to evolve in my artistic creations and I started doing acrylic paintings. I have always been motivated and triggered in creating free art and so until today all creations that I do are coming from the heart and from a very deep visceral feeling.”

What inspires you?

“Everything in life inspires me, I have been so grateful that I survived at this car accident that immediately after that I came out of the coma, I started enjoying everything in life. And so, until today every single thing that comes into my life can work as an inspiration to continue in life and even to create some of the art that I present today to this world.”

What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?

“The art I am presenting today is: Quantum painting. And I called it quantum painting because from a scientific point of view, quantum physics is something that is made visible through the eye of the observer. So, every single painting that I create evolves always with the quality and the greatness that the observer has to uncover and meet my artwork. After many years, I noticed that people who have seen and have had the pleasure to have one of my paintings, that day by day they have seen their painting differently because they evolved through it. So, the message I give through my quantum paintings is that all my paintings are alive and that they will evolve with the observer who is in front of it.”

“I have always been motivated and triggered in creating free art and so until today, all creations that I do are coming from the heart and from a very deep visceral feeling.”

How would you describe your work?

“My quantum paintings are for me creations that already exist in this universe but where I as a painter as to take up a brush, a canvas and some paint to create this in such a form that humanity can see it and even touch it. My art is always driven by passion and free expression of creation. Once you had the opportunity to have an encounter with one of my paintings, especially face to face, your life will never be the same again and you will develop deep feelings to meet that painting and to meet the new creations.”

Which artists influence you most?

“I have always been admirative by painters who dare to be free and present to the world “free art” which means free of very rigid and severe academic art rules, which doesn’t meant that I am against it, but I am always interested of bringing with my art a complementary view to the classical academic art world.”

What is your creative process like?

“I always feel my creations before I take up my brush. It is a deep feeling and need that I have to bring down all those visions and feelings that I have through paint and a brush onto a canvas. Every single time when I paint, I have the feeling to be completely detached from this world and that I am completely in my creations. It is for me a need to paint, and as long as my creation is not complete, I can't stop painting!”

What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?

“For me personally, the artist has a very important role today in this society! He has to bring to a very broad public an expression to art where this expression must be one of freedom, one that offers to his audience a tool through all the form that he brings and make sure that a non artist can feel and be enriched by the artist creation. When I see the tendencies of the world and notice that they are ready to very different philosophies on the artistic world: The first one is the one that seeks “the perfect technic” to be conform on very strict artistic and academic rules, guided by social and professional criticism. The second one is, the artist that feels the need to express himself freely and there I can see that some the artwork that is presented is created in such freedom that I cannot always recognize the art in it. But I can surely see that art is evolving!”

Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?

“I have had the pleasure over the last couple of years to create and participate to different exhibitions of art paintings. One that had a major impact on me and the general public was a seven week exposition I did in 2023 in Belgium and where I presented 18 quantum paintings in two kinds of light: natural light and UV light. The Exposition was such a success that after the first couple of days all my paintings where already sold. I have seen that every single visitor who came to this exposition even some of them came back every single week, because they felt the need to nourish themselves through the paintings. I have seen people standing for hours in front of one painting and crying just because they were so much moved by the painting. Even the manager of the exposition room have shared with us that in all his career he had never lived an experience like this through the art of painting. It was a very powerful experience!”
