Lise Traran
Lise has lived all over the world including in USA, Hong Kong and Australia for several years. She has taken many different art courses, and now she is living permanently in her home country, Norway. She started The Interdiciplin Art School : DTK-Kunstfagskolen i Bærum Norway and finished in 2012. Under the pandemic, she took one more year at the same school to keep her busy and she finished in 2022.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“I have been drawing and painting since I was 2 years old and filled out my mothers crossword with different colors. When I started school, all I wanted to do was drawing and coloring. I painted the kitchen door pink one morning when my mother was still asleep with watercolor. She herself was an artist all her life and thanks to her I paint and draw every single day. Art is to be for me and I never have to stop working as long as I live, even when I'm getting my pension. I wake up at five every day with my chihuahua and enjoy Instagram for a couple of hours with a nice breakfast. I have been doing dance aerobic for 62 years with a chorographer.”
What inspires you?
“L'INSTANT the moment inspires me. Poetry and Estethic and other Artists work.”
“Creativity is my world and life is a gift.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“I present a project showing how the world can be changed by using creativity and art design. I wish for children to make their own fables seeing my work. I made a children’s book wishing for them to learn synonyms and art.”
How would you describe your work?
“I use hybrid watercolors primarily for creative communication. I paint with acrylic and watercolors and call it mixed medium. My book was born in South Africa, living one month with well-known artist, Hazl Soan and her husband John Goatly in Noordhoek as an art trip, all alone. I love to make different things and could never just make one thing one medium.”
Which artists influence you most?
“Pablo Picasso is my favorite artist. He worked all the time and had different periods throughout life growing constantly as an artist.”
What is your creative process like?
“I love to make art not drawing what to make on forehand. The water makes my art using watercolor/mixed medium.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“Reflections and selections makes it all a secret and historical process. The war in Europa inspired me to draw several women.”
