My art finds homes in both private and public collections, enriching spaces with its creativity and allure. From intimate galleries to public institutions, my work inspires viewers worldwide. I've had the pleasure of painting the dog of the Irish President and many celebrities' pets worldwide. I also provide art mixed media workshops for children and adults in the local Fingal Area, collaborating with Argillan Castle and The Seamus Ennis Art Centre, as well as in my studio in Swords. Art is my life, and I love sharing it with everyone, always.”
What does your work aim to say? Does it comment on any current social or political issues?
“My artistic endeavors at didART studio are driven by a deep desire to communicate the beauty and innovation inherent in mixed media techniques. While my work primarily focuses on providing a unique and inspirational experience through art, it doesn't explicitly comment on current social or political issues. Instead, the essence of my creations lies in the celebration of creativity, individuality, and the joy that art brings to people's lives. Through the interplay of colors, textures, and precise execution in my artworks, I aim to convey a sense of novelty and uniqueness. The emphasis on offering one-of-a-kind, well-crafted pieces serves as a departure from mass-produced items, aligning with an ecological consciousness by promoting sustainability and individuality. The personal and customizable nature of my art reflects a commitment to creating gifts that are not only visually striking but also carry a deep, personal meaning. In a world where mass production often dominates, didART studio stands as a beacon of craftsmanship and individual expression. While my work may not directly engage with social or political issues, its focus on ecological considerations and the celebration of individuality indirectly aligns with values that resonate in contemporary conversations. Ultimately, my art speaks to the power of creativity, the joy of giving and receiving unique gifts, and the timeless appeal of handmade, personalized expressions of emotion and appreciation.”
Do you plan your work in advance, or is it improvisation?
“As an artist, my approach to creating art is a dynamic blend of planning and improvisation. While I may start with a general concept or idea, the creative process often takes on a life of its own, leading to spontaneous and unplanned elements. I typically begin with a basic framework or vision for a piece. This could include considerations such as the choice of materials, color palette, and overall composition. This initial planning phase provides a roadmap for my creative exploration. However, as I delve into the actual creation of the artwork, I embrace the freedom to improvise. The interplay of colors, the manipulation of textures, and the dynamic relationships between different elements often inspire new directions and ideas that may not have been part of the initial plan. Improvisation allows for a certain level of spontaneity and intuition in the creative process. It's in these unscripted moments that I discover unique details, unexpected harmonies, or compelling contrasts that contribute to the overall richness of the artwork. In essence, my creative process is a dance between planning and spontaneity. The initial plan provides a foundation, while improvisation injects a sense of energy and unpredictability into the work. This balance allows for a fluid and organic development of the art, resulting in pieces that are not only visually engaging but also carry the essence of the creative journey.”
Are there any art world trends you are following?
“I have an immense passion for blending various artistic techniques, particularly the harmonious fusion of painting with sculpture in my creations. The realm of 3D mixed media art is where I thrive, exploring the dynamic interplay between form and color to craft visually captivating pieces. My artistic journey is characterized by a deep affection for abstract expressions, where I find the freedom to let creativity flow beyond conventional boundaries. Abstract art provides a canvas for boundless exploration, allowing me to translate emotions, concepts, and inspirations into a unique visual language. Quirkiness is a signature element in my work, injecting a sense of playfulness and unpredictability into each piece. I revel in the unconventional, creating artworks that defy expectations and invite viewers to engage with a vibrant and lively narrative. Color is my ally, and I embrace it boldly. The use of a rich and diverse color palette is a cornerstone of my artistic expression. Each hue and shade plays a vital role in conveying the energy and emotion embedded within my creations. From the subtle harmonies to the bold contrasts, color breathes life into my artworks. In essence, my artistic style is a celebration of the abstract, the quirky, and the colorful. It's a journey of exploration, where the marriage of different techniques and mediums results in pieces that are not only visually stimulating but also carry a unique narrative that unfolds in three-dimensional space.”
What process, materials and techniques do you use to create your artwork?
“Embark on a visual journey through my diverse artistic process, where a medley of techniques transforms concepts into vibrant, three-dimensional narratives. From the initial concept to the final brushstroke, each piece is a result of a meticulous and dynamic creative journey. Conceptualization sets the stage, drawing inspiration from emotions, experiences, or abstract themes. Initial sketches guide the composition, outlining the interplay of colors, textures, and forms. Diversity is key in my choice of materials, ranging from traditional acrylic paints to unconventional sculptural elements like wire, clay, or found objects. A dance between traditional and experimental painting techniques unfolds, creating layers, textures, and visual intrigue. As a lover of mixed media, every technique is an exciting avenue of exploration. Sculptural elements come to life through molding, carving, and shaping materials, adding depth and form to transform the artwork into a three-dimensional experience. The convergence of painted and sculpted elements forms a dynamic and immersive visual narrative. Colors tell the story. A vibrant and diverse palette is carefully selected and applied, exploring nuanced interactions to convey emotions and narratives. Creation is an iterative journey, with layers added and adjusted, embracing spontaneity and the beauty of the unexpected. In the final stages, refinement ensures cohesiveness, adding finishing touches that enhance the overall impact of the artwork. Step into a world where painting and sculpture entwine, guided by a love for abstraction, quirkiness, and a celebration of vibrant colors. As a passionate advocate of mixed media, every technique is not just a tool but an expression of creative curiosity. And, as a creator of pet portraits, alcohol ink takes center stage, providing a unique and personalized touch to commissioned pieces. Each artwork is a testament to the ever-evolving process of creativity and exploration.”

What does your art mean to you?
“Art, to me, is a profound expression of human creativity and emotion. It's a language that transcends words, allowing individuals to communicate, connect, and understand each other on a deeper level. Art serves as a powerful means of conveying ideas, perspectives, and the intricacies of the human experience. It is a form of storytelling, where each brushstroke, sculpture, or composition tells a unique narrative. Art has the ability to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and inspire change. Whether it's the exploration of beauty, the contemplation of the abstract, or the confrontation of challenging concepts, art has the capacity to move and transform. Art is a reflection of the artist's inner world, a visual manifestation of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It serves as a mirror for society, reflecting its values, aspirations, and challenges. Through art, individuals can engage in conversations that go beyond cultural, linguistic, or geographical boundaries. Moreover, art is a source of solace and inspiration. It has the power to uplift spirits, provide moments of introspection, and offer a sense of connection to something greater than oneself. The process of creating art, for me, is a journey of self-discovery, experimentation, and continuous growth. In essence, art is a multifaceted, transformative force that enriches lives, fosters understanding, and adds beauty to the world. It is a universal language that speaks to the soul, inviting individuals to explore, appreciate, and celebrate the richness of the human experience.”
What’s your favorite artwork and why?
“As an artist who embraces multiple techniques and finds joy in the diversity of my creations, it's challenging to single out a favorite artwork. Each piece holds a special place in my heart, representing a unique journey of exploration, experimentation, and creative expression. The beauty of working with various techniques lies in the richness it brings to my artistic portfolio. From the intricate dance of colors in abstract pieces to the tactile allure of sculptural elements, each artwork tells a story of its own. The process of creation is as significant to me as the final result, and every piece contributes to my continuous growth and evolution as an artist. While I don't have a specific favorite, the collective body of work reflects my passion for pushing creative boundaries, celebrating diversity, and embracing the unexpected. Each artwork serves as a testament to my artistic journey, a journey that is marked by a genuine love for the process, a curiosity for exploration, and an appreciation for the varied techniques that contribute to the tapestry of my artistry.”
