What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“From my early years of doodling geometric shapes at school to venturing into analogue photography as a teenager, art has always been my solace. It wasn't until my 50th birthday, that I fully embraced this passion and the digital word of creative opportunities and this was thanks to a digital camera gift from my wife. Since then, I've been on a transformative journey with digital photography, digital art and Photoshop, primarily as a mental health outlet but more recently as a way of sharing personal thoughts and insights that I can’t verbally share with the same impact as I can with my artwork.”
What inspires you?
“Nature and water are my muses, often triggering complex emotions and thoughts during my walks. Whether it's spring blossom signifying societal norms on attractiveness or water currents symbolizing the daily grind, each element connects to a larger theme in my work.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“My art is a refuge from negative thought loops, blending emotions, photographs, and pixels. Whether it's self-portraits or abstract pieces, each work aims to challenge societal norms and empower individuals to find their own path As a result, my dominant theme is Thoughts and Emotions with some focus on humour but all have an underlying message and aim to tell a story that helps unlock the viewers own thought processes and pull off their blinkers to give them confidence to follow their own path in life.”

How would you describe your work?
“I would describe my work as a captivating fusion of digital art and photography that delves deep into the human experience. My art is not just images on a screen or in a frame; they are windows into the complexities of modern life and the human psyche. My art goes beyond aesthetics; it serves as a mirror reflecting the struggles and triumphs of individuals navigating a world filled with societal expectations and external pressures. It explores themes of personal autonomy, self-discovery, and empowerment, offering viewers a chance to connect with their own journeys. Each piece is a visual narrative, intricately crafted to convey a profound message. My use of bold colors, textures, and digital techniques creates a sensory experience that draws you in, encouraging introspection and sparking conversations. What sets my artwork apart is its ability to provoke thought and evoke emotions. It's a testament to the power of art as a catalyst for personal growth and social change. Whether you're an art enthusiast or someone seeking meaning in visual expression, it invites you to explore the depths of the human condition and, in doing so, discover a path to authenticity and fulfillment.”
Which artists influence you most?
“Rather than being influenced by specific artists, my work is a melting pot of diverse styles and ideas from various artists and photographers. This eclectic mix helps me maintain the uniqueness and authenticity in my art.”
What is your creative process like?
“My creative process is an emotional rollercoaster. I start with a concept or emotion, then dive into my digital toolbox to bring it to life. The process is as enriching for me as I hope the final piece is for the viewer.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“I can’t answer for others artists, just myself, and if there is the need to define a role for me and my art its this: a cultural catalyst, challenging societal norms and expectations through blending stories/messages into thought-provoking artwork. My art encourages viewers to question societal norms and makes them consider alternative perspectives, ultimately fostering a more open-minded society. By doing this, my art also empowers individuals to break free from the chains of conformity and embrace their unique paths. It inspires people to take control of their lives and make choices aligned with their aspirations, leading to personal growth and fulfillment. So, as an artist my role is to encourage people to recognize and reflect on the complex emotions and societal challenges that they and others they encounter experience in a rapidly changing world. I’m promoting empathy and understanding, I’m telling stories of transformation and resilience, showing that it's possible to overcome obstacles and redefine one's journey. In a world filled with uncertainties, I’m reminding people that they matter and they have a choice. How will this evolve, as new technology becomes more wide spread wide mobiles phone and augmented reality becomes common place my artwork will become available to view in the places it was inspired, as well as virtual worlds that I will create to showcase my artwork. I have already explored these options and have a number of virtual gallery spaces. So embracing new technology and methods of payment will play a pivotal role as my artistic journey continues.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
