Interview
Ekaterina Ramishvili
As a junior artist, Ekaterina has got many prizes and exhibitions since 2022. She received a prize Oscar for creativity (Monte Carlo), Lion of gotd for art vision (Venice ), Palma of gold for aura mystic (Monte Carlo), Angel with Star for Art Show ( Los Angeles) and The Cup for art of years in Brussells.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“My artistic past is still associated with being a visitor and with that child, looking at illustrated books that I loved so much in my pajamas and in this background I often made sketches and if it wasn’t a school exercise, then I would fold it up and throw it in the trash. However, after looking at Miro and Kandinsky, I longed in my heart to see my work on the wall of a large museum and to see it as one of the visitors and I even partially fulfilled this dream, at the Ferrara Biennale in Italy. Despite the fact that I am a tailor-fashion designer by profession, I have completed 35 academic hours at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts as a free student and I am not a dilettante in art and I have also successfully obtained various certificates.
What inspires you?
“For inspiration, everything motivates me, which is primarily associated with aesthetics and improvisation, but it is more of an internal need and spontaneously takes shape, or something like that, what will happen now when I make this sunflower colorful and it will be variegated. Or even, I will sew buttons on the canvas and a heart will come out and so on. That is, in the purity - with the inspiration of desire and love.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“Yes, there is always some kind of protest, but I still fight in the shadows, according to a well-known historical act, but by nature I am both a cynic and a realist, and perhaps that is why I am sometimes drawn to romanticism, in order to maintain balance and not end up in a confined space or a cemetery. However, I love flowers and exoticism, yes. And as a mobile photographer, I bring the developed fragments to life forever.”
How would you describe your work?
“Art for love, love for art! And in this way it's very simple and fine or nice.”
Which artists influence you most?
“A great many, but Chopin always!”
“Art for love, love for art!”
What is your creative process like?
“My creative process is always diverse, but I will single out at least one, and it is connected to my free time, and therefore it is more of a hobby if the filming process is not dedicated to any reportage. However, even there I am used to improvising and I rarely cut or edit the footage, so to speak.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“Oh, yes. It's very big, but it's also difficult. However, art and the aspect of the artist is still associated with great talent and virtuosity, and they are simply brilliant people who ignite vital processes in various fields and create a creative world in this orbit of ours.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“Yes, my personal exhibitions in Milan.”
