Interview
Chara Vasileiou
Chara is a professional graphic designer from Greece. She began her career in business administration, but soon became aware of the many design paths available.
Chara loves to create designs with skylines, the world, cities, country maps, and flags. For a long time, Chara dreamed about including her passion in her artwork. So finally, she created her own online shop, the WallDecorAddict where she displays her work for all to see.
Through the WallDecorAddict, Chara invites you, wherever you are in the world, to explore her excitement for art alongside her.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“My name, Chara, means joy and happiness. I began my career in business administration, but a few years ago, I was drawn to follow my heart, my dream, my passion. My experience and passion for design allow me to create my art world. Behind my art, you will find my inspiration.
I love my family, and I feel thankful for my daughters who are the inspiration behind everything I do.”
“Artists are ambassadors of creativity and inspiration. They provide the truth and the change. They inspire people globally with their designs, critique the social system.”
What inspires you?
“The process of travelling stimulates me mentally. I cross wanderlust-worthy new destinations for me. Traveling changes my mindset, and enhances my creativity.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“I express my love by creating skylines and world maps. The atmosphere of my designs can be found in the different layers of information. I play with colors and create a unique style.
There’s a message in each of my pieces, but in most cases, what the viewer sees is different from my message. My challenge to the viewer is to create their own story and be a part of my art world. I believe in the interaction between the viewer and the artist.”

How would you describe your work?
“My mental health is my art therapy. My designs adapt to my emotions. I am focused and completely dedicated as I design, transferring what I feel at the moment to my work.”
Which artists influence you most?
“I admire Jacqueline Gomez. She creates the best symbolist designs.”
What is your creative process like?
“I start with an idea. After the process of creative thinking, which may involve investigation, travel and clarification, I am ready to start. I choose the colors and proceed to sculpting and drawing, making any corrections that may be required. And finally, my piece is completed.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“Several of my designs are now available on:
iCanvas, Fine Art America and Etsy.”
