Catharina Füreder

Catharina Füreder is from Upper Austria and has been involved in photography for more than 15 years. As an autodidact - across all spades - she arrived in reportage photography. She captures cities, the sea, coast and beach, big city bustle but also nature and silence. She loves the hustle and bustle of extraordinary people. She is also passionate about fashion and design, details and the big picture. Catharina’s photography is focused on reporting with a high recognition value and its own visual language. Fashion is more than a passion for her. Breaking the rules and creating new perspectives and looks is one of the characteristics of Catharina’s photography.

 

What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?

“Through years of hard work and dedication I have built a successful career in photography. Each assignment has contributed to my professional and personal growth and inspired me to always stay creative. My journey in photography began 15 years ago as an autodidact. I got to know all the branches of photography across the board. I tried a lot and finally found myself. I have arrived in my world of photography.”

What inspires you?

“Cities, the sea, coast and beach, the big city bustle but also nature and silence. Fashion and design inspires me as well as the details of the big picture.”

What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?

“For me, photography means more than just taking beautiful pictures - it's about capturing the feeling of a certain moment and sharing it with the world. I love a challenge and enjoy working with partners on projects and individual assignments. My work is about telling moments and portraying people. It’s more than the staging of products and dishes. It’s everything out of the ordinary. I love documenting real and unique stories.”

How would you describe your work?

“My work creates a special perspective, because I have an eye for detail and I am very creative in telling stories that are authentic.”

Which artists influence you most?

“David LaChapelle, Terry Richardson and Ellen Von Unwerth.”

 What is your creative process like?

“As a photographer, I see the world as a creative lens. This creativity has taken me on many adventures and given me the opportunity to work with some truly talented individuals. I'm always looking for opportunities to explore more, keep growing and expand my skillset. I break the rules in my creative process.”

What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?

“An artist can wake people up non-violently and make them aware, touch their hearts and take them to another world.”

Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?

“I had an exhibition, “The Moment makes the Picture” that was held in March until May 2023 in Leica Galerie und Boutique Salzburg.”
