Apple Zhao

Apple is a multi-disciplinary artist. She works in the fashion industry in NYC.

 

What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?

“I am a multi-disciplinary artist from Harbin, China, now based in New York City. My interest in fashion traced back to when I was in kindergarten. I now work as a fashion designer, model, and stylist in the industry.”

What inspires you?

“The space around me.”

What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?

“I pursue a theme of solving underlying societal issues.”

How would you describe your work?

“My work reconstructs the fashion trends.”

Which artists influence you most?

“Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood.”

“In my work, I celebrate themes of divine femininity, growth, self-love, and romance. I find inspiration in the magic of glittering nature, which infuses my dreamy paintings with a sense of wonder.”

What is your creative process like?

“I use CLO 3D.”

What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?

“We solve issues by bringing love and peace.”

Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?

“I’ve exhibited my work at the Pomerantz Pride Month Exhibition.”
