Anna Reznikova

Anna Reznikova is a painter who lives in Cyprus and has exhibited in both solo and group events nationally. Her mostly figurative works feature subjects that excite and entrance her. Reznikova prefers to create using the mediums of watercolor and oil on canvas or paper.

 

What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?

“Art was my passion from very young age. My first bachelors is in Economical Engineering, and then I graduated from Fine Art Academy by Sergey Andriaka. I took private lessons from an art Surikov University professor called Nikolay Borovskoy. Since then, I have worked in many different styles and techniques.”

What inspires you?

“I currently live in Cyprus, which has very rich nature and positive atmosphere. I am inspired by the it and beauty around me. I am also inspired by the classic Russian and Dutch artists, however I also like modern art.”

What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?

“My favourite art subject is flowers in all styles. Flowers are universal symbols of beauty, which is something I try to convey in my artworks.”

How would you describe your work?

“I am a perfectionist, balancing between impressionism and realism.”

Which artists influence you most?

“Dutch, Flemish and Russian classic painters influence me. French impressionists also inspire me.”

What is your creative process like?

“I have a studio which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, which sets me up for a very good mood and inspiration. I usually work in the mornings and afternoons.”

What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?

“An artist produces art in order to evoke any positive emotions even during the hard times we live in.”
