Aisling Holian
Aisling Holian is an artist from Galway Ireland. She graduated from the Institute of art design and technology with a degree in art direction. She taught, art and design for a number of years before returning to her own professional practice.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“I am an artist from Galway, Ireland. I graduated from the Institute of Art Design and Technology with an honours degree in art direction. I taught Art and Design for a number of years before returning to my own professional practice. My artistic journey, ignited in the vibrant realm of my families creativity, surrounded by the brushstrokes of talented artists, the flame flickered brighter in school in art class. Where my passion, took root and blossomed into a lifelong love affair with the world of art.”
What does your work aim to say? Does it comment on any current social or political issues?
“I believe that art should resonate with the viewer, sparking emotions and igniting conversation. My use of vibrant colours is intentional. It’s a call to action a visual crescendo, that demands attention and refuses to be ignored. Whether you are a seasoned art enthusiast or a casual observer, my hope is that my creations will captivate your senses and transport you to a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.”
Are there any art world trends you are following?
“The last couple of years have been about exploring the digital art landscape and I hope to delve into the textile space for 2025.”
What process, materials and techniques do you use to create your artwork?
“I use mixed media, photography, drawing, apps, and Adobe software like illustrator and Photoshop to create my art.”
“Last year was all about Digital Art and I hope to explore the use of textiles in 2025.”
What does your art mean to you?
“Art to me is a profound expression of the human experience, a language that transcends words. It’s a gateway to emotions, ideas and perspectives that challenge, inspire, and connect us on a deeper level.”
What’s your favorite artwork and why?
“I adore a sculpture by Irish Artist Fidelma Massey called ‘Agnes The Saintly Sheep.’”
