Exhibition Flyer featuring centrepiece sculpture "Saint Grey" (2024), Elliott Fox.
Opening: Friday, August 15, 2025 6:00 PM
Canberra based visual artist, Elliott Fox has recently come onto the Australian art scene with his striking and soulful paintings, screen prints, and sculptures.
According to Elliott, "Art needs to be more than a pretty picture. I want my art to connect with the audience emotionally and intellectually." The 'Saint Grey' exhibition is Elliott Fox's major debut solo art exhibition, with the theme concentrating on greyhounds and commercial dog racing. The exhibition starts in August 2025 in Sydney, and will then travel to Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane. Elliott adds, "The Canberra community, much like the rest of Australia, is a nation of dog lovers. Greyhound dog owners regularly meet around Australia for group walks called 'packwalks'. Greyhounds in a large group with their striking long features and affectionate nature are a sight to behold!" A special 'packwalk' event was held on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at the Gang Gang Cafe, Downer. A montage of the successful event is available to view online.
According to Elliott, "The greyhounds themselves make the very best ambassadors, with their gentle and comical natures, endearing anyone about the many benefits of adoption and sharing your life with a rescue greyhound or two." This event presented the official announcement of Elliott’s solo art exhibition, which will consist of inspiring greyhound personality portraitures, alongside a thought-provoking expose on the commodification of greyhounds by the gambling fuelled dog racing industry. ‘Saint Grey’ takes its name from the centrepiece exhibition artwork, which is a striking and commanding life-size greyhound sculpture in saintly form. Gang Gang Cafe, Downer winner of the Out in Canberra People's Choice Award 2024 for Favourite Pet Friendly Cafe sponsored the event with free puppuccinos to all dogs. Major national and international groups supporting the ‘Saint Grey’ exhibition, include: ACT Greyhound Support Network, Animal Liberation NSW, Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds, GREY2K USA WORLDWIDE, Friends of the Hound, Free the Hounds, Amazing Greys, Greyt Greys Rescue and the Greyhound Welfare Initiative. The opportunity to sponsor the touring ‘Saint Grey’ art exhibitions is available through the Creative Australia crowdfunding platform Australian Cultural Fund (ACF). All donations are tax deductible and can be made towards the specific city exhibitions of choice: Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane. Further information about the context for this culture defining exhibition is further outlined in the specially commissioned website. This short online quiz allows anyone to test their knowledge about greyhounds and dog racing in Australia.
