The exhibition, Banksy in New York, details Banksy's itinerary around the Big Apple and recreates some of Banksy's most famous works, including Girl with a Balloon, Love in the Air (Flower Throw), Gangsta Rat and Toxic Mary. Perhaps the world's most controversial street artist, Banksy's work has become a subculture in its own right. Banksy's political statements and subversive visions have impacted cities around the world at pivotal moments in modern history, sparking alternative views and accelerating revolutions in the art world. After more than 30 years of his involvement in the world's graffiti scene, his true identity remains unknown. He has worked in many street art mediums and styles, pushing down the limits and expectations of street art critics in the process. His work contains powerful and often controversial imagery that inspired his name and work to go viral on the Internet. Today, his iconic work is redistributed and reused immeasurably.
There is Always Hope (The girl with the balloon) is often considered Banksy's most iconic work. The words "There's always hope" are written next to a little girl with her hand reaching for her heart-shaped balloon. Many have debated the purpose of this work over the years, but most have settled on the idea of love, the innocence of a child, and hope.
Banksy's work often takes the form of multi-layered stencils combined with other media sources. He sometimes adds objects that already exist on the chosen 'canvas', such as street signs and fire hydrants, to turn his work into stunning street art installations. His artwork is often satirical, combining his humor with messages about art, philosophy and politics.
Banksy consistently emphasizes his dislike of the art world through his work, but he also creates traditional works using canvas and prints, as well as branded items such as t-shirts. His cultural significance, wide popularity, and indeed the mystery of his identity all contribute to the desirability of his art.

Created in Jerusalem in 2003, Love in the air (Flower thrower) is considered one of Banksy's most famous works of art and has become a symbol of peace and hope, especially for so many people facing destruction, death and disaster.

Banksy (b. 1973, Bristol, England) is regarded as one of the most valuable artists of our time. Very little is known about the Bristol-born street artist as he chooses to remain anonymous, but we do know that the world-renowned mystery man has been active since the 1990s. His work has appeared on streets, walls, and bridges throughout the world with his distinctive stenciling technique. The enigmatic British artist’s satirical street art combines dark humor with graffiti. He creates masterpieces with political and social commentary, often controversial and disruptive, but provoking alternative viewpoints.
