Paul Lockhart

Born and raised in Salem, Oregon, Paul always had an interest in art and how he could portray his surroundings onto paper, taking special interest in drawing people, muscle cars, and historic architecture using pen, ink, and watercolors. He moved to Portland in 1976 after a 4-year enlistment in the Navy to pursue an art career; however, he ended up landscaping for 30 years - retiring in 2014 - and began to pursue art more seriously in retirement. Since 2014, Paul has had the opportunities to volunteer at elementary and middle schools in art classes, sell his art at farmers and art markets, and be a part of various galleries and shows around the city. Acrylics and oil pastels are used as current mediums, which can be best seen in his paintings done in plein-air; other acrylic work takes place in his basement studio. Paul’s art portrays his interests and colorful style in architecture, landscapes, chickens, and the occasional portrait.
