An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind, A lesson for a lesson is all a blessing
According to Amanda Wilson (Forbes), there are many different ways to approach the process of healing mentally, physically and spiritually. Wilson dives deep into others’ viewpoints, to further understand their actions and words but it is not our responsibility to transmute another's lesson. It too is a choice, yet also can calm inner conflict through understanding. We are allowed to feel our emotions but if they do not serve us or if they create conflict in us, then having the courage to learn from, accept and let go is a step in the right direction for the healing process.
“We are consciously and unconsciously creating our own reality collectively. We are all a part of the bigger canvas.”
-Amanda Wilson (Forbes)
Bees are people too was specifically created from the knowledge that came into light for Wilson through all the interactions that have taken place in her life. The excitement to share it with others overwhelmed Wilson because of the value of understanding. This piece was also inspired by her curiosity of her own personal lineage & genealogical descendance. The painting refers to groups that used to be revered and protected for their internal knowledge of a spiritual level, in the past, were referred to as bees. In other legends such as Zeus, bees were represented as messengers between gods and human beings. The bees represent carriers of wisdom and knowledge . The texture in the background of the painting is raised as the brush was evenly carried with slight pressure across the canvas from one side to the other. Symbols used in this painting are pre-written as notes as Wilson planned her work.
Imm Perfection is symbolic of many cultures in one. Not knowing what ethnicity this particular model in the painting is, is what makes this painting a good example that some could view the colour of skin as a representation of people and thus defining the painting. However, Wilson believes that if you look into a person's eyes which will show you the real connection, the colour of a person's skin is not the determination factor in judgement ever, nor should it ever have been throughout history. Wilson used acrylic paint and water as a method of application of several layers that was taught to her.
Royal Phoenix’s base was created first then whips of colour gradually layered out. This is more of an impressionistic touch added to it instead than realism. Uniquely designed, this feather is a symbol of royalty and the secrets in the feather alone are absolutely admirable. The outer layers a vibrant green, mixed with a bit more earth that grows from what is a precious resource.
