As a self-taught artist with limited formal education in art, Tiffany’s artistic journey has been a testament to the power of passion and self-exploration. With a foundation laid during high school art classes, she embarked on a relentless pursuit of artistic knowledge and development. Through countless hours of independent practice, experimentation, and unwavering dedication, she has honed her technique and cultivated a distinctive artistic style. Her self-guided journey has allowed her to approach her art with a unique perspective, blending influences from various sources and continually pushing the boundaries of her creativity. Her artwork is a testament to the transformative potential of self-teaching, showcasing the depth and richness that can emerge from a commitment to lifelong learning and artistic exploration.
What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“Growing up in a household filled with creativity, my artistic journey was inspired by my parents' musical and design backgrounds. With a father who was a musician and composer, and a mother who had a talent for interior design, I was immersed in various forms of artistic expression from an early age. While music was the primary focus, my curiosity led me to explore art during my high school years. It was there that I found a passion for it, thanks to the guidance and support of my art teacher, Ms. Hogue, whose free-spirited approach resonated with me. Although I took a few art classes in college, life's demands took precedence, and my artistic pursuits were put on hold while I focused on raising a family and pursued a career in real estate.
However, in 2009, going through a significant life transition, I turned to painting as a means of coping and self-expression. Initially a hobby, it gradually gained momentum as I sold my first painting in 2015, sparking an increased interest in my work. Juggling the demands of real estate and my creative outlet became a symbiotic relationship, until the stress took a toll on my health. In January 2023, I made the courageous decision to leave the real estate industry and commit myself fully to pursuing art, allowing me to nurture my creativity and follow my true passion.”
What inspires you?
“I find immense inspiration in the success of others. Witnessing someone's journey, their tenacity, and their ultimate triumph fuels my own ambition. It reminds me that with hard work, perseverance, and determination, anyone can overcome challenges and achieve remarkable things. These stories demolish self-doubt, ignite hope, and encourage me to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and continually grow. The diverse range of accomplishments showcases the limitless potential within each individual and motivates me to seek new knowledge and set higher goals. In summary, the success of others inspires me, fuels my belief in the possibilities, and pushes me to reach my own dreams.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“In my work, I am captivated by the themes of desert landscapes and botanicals. Through my art, I aim to capture the raw beauty and resilience found in arid environments. The desert serves as a metaphor for the human spirit, representing adaptability and tenacity. Meanwhile, botanicals symbolize delicate strength and growth amidst adversity. My artwork celebrates the intricate beauty of desert flora, inspiring viewers to appreciate the resilience of nature and find beauty in challenging circumstances. Ultimately, my work conveys a profound connection to nature and a reminder of the inherent beauty within ourselves.”

How would you describe your work?
“I would describe my work as a meticulous & meditative form of fluid art. Instead of using traditional brushes, I embrace a unique technique that involves hand pouring each piece. I create templates using tape, meticulously cutting out the areas of focus with an X-Acto knife. After allowing the poured medium to dry, I peel off the tape and repeat the process in another area, layering the colors and textures to form a harmonious composition. The deliberate nature of my technique allows me to achieve intricate patterns and textures, with each piece being a result of focused intention. It's a patient and careful exploration of the interplay between pigments and the forces of gravity.
This process not only requires attention to detail but also offers me a sense of tranquility and inner calm. By harnessing the power of gravity and controlled pouring techniques, I can achieve a sense of movement and depth in my artwork. Each piece is a unique journey, with the colors and patterns evolving in an unpredictable yet harmonious manner.”
Which artists influence you most?
“At the moment, two artists have a profound influence on my work. Dyana Hesson captivates me with her ethereal interpretation of desert botanicals. The vibrant colors she employs evoke a sense of life and energy, while simultaneously exuding a softness that invites viewers into a serene and tranquil world. Her ability to strike a balance between vividness and serenity is truly inspiring. Similarly, Mark Maggiori's artistic vision of the southwest, particularly his breathtaking depictions of clouds, leaves me in awe. The level of detail he brings to his work is nothing short of remarkable, transporting viewers to vast landscapes and inviting them to appreciate the beauty and grandeur of the natural world. Both artists influence me immensely, pushing me to explore the interplay of color, serenity, and attention to detail in my own artistic endeavors.”
What is your creative process like?
“My creative process is a deeply immersive and meditative journey. It begins long before I actually start painting, as I meticulously prepare and gather all the necessary materials. Mixing the paint, ensuring I have fresh blades, and stocking up on ample tape become part of the ritual. With reference photos in hand, I finally dive into the process, and as I do, the outside world fades away. Each step is deliberate and precise, from the meticulous cutting and pouring to the artful blending of colors. I move from one area to another while allowing the wet layers to dry, maintaining a sense of rhythm and flow. This time-consuming process becomes an act of focus and mindfulness, where I lose myself in the creation, finding solace and inspiration along the way.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“The role of an artist in society is multifaceted, serving as a catalyst for introspection, emotional connection, and cultural expression. Artists have the power to inspire, provoke thought, and challenge societal norms through their creations. They offer unique perspectives, evoke empathy, and provide a lens through which individuals can explore and interpret the world. As society continues to evolve, the role of artists is likely to expand further, with an increased focus on inclusivity, diversity, and the exploration of pressing social issues. Artists will continue to serve as agents of change, fostering dialogue and fostering a deeper understanding of the human experience through their art.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“I will be in the Hidden in the Hills artist studio tour which is the oldest, biggest, and the best Studio Tour in Arizona. There are 160 artists in 40 studios all over Cave Creek, Carefree and North Scottsdale. The dates for the tour are November 17-19 & 24-26.
I have had 2 exhibitions this year, 2023:
- the Desert Foothills Gallery represented 2 of my pieces.
- a solo exhibition at ArtSpace.
As a new full-time artist, I am eagerly embarking on my artistic journey and actively seeking opportunities to showcase my work. I am deeply committed to honing my craft, fueling my passion for creation, and continuously growing as an artist. I approach each day with enthusiasm and an unwavering determination to refine my skills and connect with audiences through upcoming exhibitions. I believe that my dedication and eagerness to contribute to the art world will pave the way for future opportunities and success.”
