What is your background and how did you start your journey in the art world?
“My journey specifically in the art world began with my formal training at the Florence Academy of Art, where I honed my skills in fine art. Through my life, living in diverse locations like China, Singapore, London, Chicago, and now Copenhagen has enriched my understanding of various cultures and deeply influenced my work. Beyond art, I have been working in the financial industry for over a decade, also serving as an assessor at the University of Cambridge, specializing in High Impact Leadership, which enhances my appreciation for societal functions, human connection and empowerment. My art embodies the concept of "Artistic Femininity," emphasizing grace, intuition, sensitivity, and nurturing. Through my work, I aim to capture the interconnectedness of all experiences, nature and cultures, celebrating global diversity and the profound beauty of human expression.”
What inspires you?
“What inspires me is the profound beauty and complexity of the human experience, as well as the interconnectedness of cultures and nature. My diverse life journey across the globe has enriched my perspective and deepened my understanding of various cultural narratives and histories. This global diversity is a constant source of inspiration, allowing me to see the world through a multifaceted lens. Nature is another powerful muse for me. The serene beauty and rhythms of the natural world provide a backdrop for introspection and renewal, fueling my creativity and grounding my artistic vision. Ultimately, what inspires me the most is the potential of art to empower the soul, bridge cultural divides, and evoke deep emotional responses. Through my art, I strive to capture and convey this inspiration, creating works that resonate with beauty, empathy, and a reverence for life.”
What themes do you pursue? Is there an underlying message in your work?
“My artist philosophy is a concept I created, the contemporary “Artistic Femininity” philosophy, where I explore in my work draws heavily from the qualities I observe through human societies and nature - grace, intuition, sensitivity, and a deep sense of nurturing and interconnectedness. Here is a summary through my poem, “Art emanates enchanting sensuality, Expresses love’s deepest decree. Art celebrates femininity’s grace, Embodies the essence of life and all creations.””
How would you describe your work?
“My work epitomizes a fusion of contemporary Oriental aesthetics, delicately intertwining classical painting theories with the fluidity of abstract techniques and the elegance of Oriental calligraphy. Embracing a feminine ethos, I infuse each piece with a softness of form and a depth of emotion, mirroring the grace and intuition traditionally associated with femininity. Drawing from my diverse cultural background and extensive training in fine art, I endeavor to harmonize traditional elements with modern sensibilities, creating a synthesis of East and West that celebrates the feminine essence and the dynamic energy of the present. Through this contemporary Oriental fusion, I seek to evoke a sense of interconnectedness and cultural dialogue, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the intersection of tradition and innovation, as well as the beauty of the feminine spirit.”
Which artists influence you most?
“Very many I would say. My top 3 favourite artists are, Zhang Daqian, J.M.W. Turner, and Banksy, each bring unique and powerful elements to the world of art. Zhang Daqian, a master of traditional Chinese painting, is celebrated for his expressive brushwork and innovative use of colour, blending classical techniques with a modern sensibility. J.M.W. Turner, the eminent British painter, is renowned for his dramatic and atmospheric landscapes, capturing the sublime power of nature with a visionary use of light and colour. Banksy, the enigmatic street artist, challenges social norms with his provocative and often politically charged graffiti, combining sharp wit with a deep sense of justice. Together, these artists inspire me through their profound creativity, cultural impact, and the way they push the boundaries of artistic expression.”

What is your creative process like?
“In my creative process, planning is everything. I believe that a well-thought-out plan is the foundation for truly expressive and impactful art. Before I even touch a canvas, I spend considerable time conceptualizing my ideas, memories, and gathering inspiration from diverse sources. This meticulous planning phase allows me to explore different perspectives, themes, and techniques, ensuring that each piece is thoughtfully crafted and deeply meaningful. A crucial aspect of my planning is the precise selection and use of colours. I carefully consider the emotional and symbolic impact of each hue, planning their interactions to create harmony and evoke specific feelings. By outlining my vision and setting clear intentions, I can approach the actual creation with a sense of purpose and direction, allowing for fluidity and spontaneity within a structured framework. This balance between careful planning and intuitive execution enables me to create artworks that resonate with emotional depth and cultural richness, embodying the essence of Artistic Femininity and my personal artistic philosophy.”
What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“An artist’s role in society is multifaceted and evolves with the times. At its core, an artist serves as a storyteller, a visionary, and a catalyst for change. Artists have the unique ability to capture and reflect the complexities of the human experience, bringing to light both the beauty and the challenges of the world around us. They provoke thought, evoke emotions, and inspire dialogue, often addressing social, political, and cultural issues that might otherwise go unnoticed. A significant aspect of an artist’s role is to be avant-garde, constantly pushing the boundaries of conventional thought and aesthetics. By challenging norms and exploring new ideas and forms, avant-garde artists pave the way for innovation and progress. They inspire society to rethink and reimagine what is possible, encouraging a spirit of creativity and openness. In our increasingly interconnected and digital world, the role of the artist is evolving to become even more dynamic and influential. Artists today have unprecedented access to global platforms, allowing them to reach diverse audiences and foster cross-cultural understanding. This connectivity empowers artists to not only create but also to advocate and mobilize for social justice, environmental sustainability, and other critical issues. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, the artist's role as a bridge between different perspectives and a voice for the marginalized becomes ever more crucial. Looking forward, I see artists continuing to push boundaries and explore new mediums, including digital art and immersive experiences, to engage audiences in innovative ways. The integration of technology and art will likely expand the possibilities for creative expression, making art more accessible and interactive. Ultimately, the evolving role of the artist, especially those who are avant-garde, will continue to shape and be shaped by the societal and cultural landscapes, driving us toward a more empathetic, reflective, and connected world.”
Have you had any noteworthy exhibitions you'd like to share?
“I have recently participated at the ANIMA MUNDI Exhibition during the 60th Venice Biennale of Art. The exhibition focuses on the concept of ANIMA MUNDI, which according to several historical cultures, religions and philosophical systems, is an intrinsic connection between all living entities on the planet, which relates to the world in a similar way as the human soul is connected to the human body. Plato expressed his thought about the ANIMA MUNDI in the Timaeus, “this world is indeed a living being endowed with a soul and intelligence - a single visible living entity containing all other living entities, which by their nature are all related.” The theme of the exhibition echoes well with my artist philosophy, hence why I was very honored to be part of it.”
